- On 14 Apr 1996 19:35:55 -0400, grrc articulated:
- <> Earlier in the year my HardDrive became completely corrupt and had to be
- <> replaced. Fortunately, I had backed up the system to some floppies. I
- <> can not seem to read these disks now -- When I double-click on the disk icon
- <> I get the message "The Icon(s) have no default tool" and I get the
- <> message "Not a DOS disk in Device DF0:" in a system requester when I try
- <> to get a dir of the disk. How do I get my system to recognize the disk
- <> so I can get my info back off of it?
- <>
- <> Any help would be appreciated (is the answer obvious and I just don't see
- <> it?) When I looked for help in the doc set it referred me to a book I do
- <> not have (I guess that it is assumed that most Amiga users do not have a
- <> hard drive) - See Amiga Harddrive User's Guide. It just occured to me to
- <> look for this in pub/aminet/disk/docs. I will try that while waiting for
- <> a response.

- What backup program did you use? HDBackup? Just use it to do
- a no log restore (unless you have the log files) to your
- hard drive. This program uses a proprietary format for the
- media, so you couldn't just "see" what was on the disks from
- Workbench. Run HDBackup, or whatever utility you used to
- make the backup, and there you go.
